I would like to meet you Shane. Thank you for appreciating him as much as I did. I love the stories you have to share about Nick. He communicated through his music. You were one of the few who spoke his unique language. I understand totally the holistic experience you achieved that night- connecting on a soul deep level with the music you both created. That is rare. A true gift.
Hi Annette, I was friends with Nicky from 93 to around 97 and lived with he and Rosie in 95-96 at the house in Lawndale, he got me a job at Guitar Center and when I lived with them I used to set up his equipment at all his shows including the blues jams he had at Pier 52, I was there at Guitar Center when he did his blues seminar “Nicky Shoes plays the blues” and have some pictures of it, for awhile Nick was my best friend until around 96 when things changed in Nick’s life and I moved, I saw him a few more times in 97 when he out of the blue came over to a place I was living to give my roommate guitar lessons, I think he was living with a girl named Jules, by then we were not very close, I have alot of memories and stories of him though and this is the first page I have ever seen anything about him or anything recorded, it is good to hear him again, I passed this on to Rosie and Nita who I’m sure you know, Nita was with Nick in Final Notice, they will both be on here as soon as they see this story, I just sent it to Rosie and asked her to forward it to Nita, I would love to hear from you Annette
Nick is my brother. Miss him so much. Gone 10 years now. Little Angel is beautiful and so bittersweet. A great musician is silent but playing his sweet strains in heaven. Thank you for keeping his talent alive. You are kind
Nicky and I shared some fantastic studio times together.

I hope you don’t mind if I share a moment or two that Nicky and I shared with one another.
When we recorded “Little Angel”, it was obvious the Joy being shared between us.
We recorded the first version with two guests in the studio who were observers only.
Note, that at my studio, if there are guests there during session work,
I can guarantee that they had headphones next to them availing them to listen in on the sessions.
Our guests had opportunity to listen in on the two pieces we recorded as well as all the banter before and after the actual recordings.
There were three men in attendance that evening, whom Nicky and I shared that form of communication he and I had,
so unique to me, I felt that there are not many in life who have the chance to experience, in general anyway…
Sure, there are plenty of other ways of which folks share super memorable experiences with another,
but those times I and Nicky shared together in sessions, with headphones on loud and proud, and hot mic’s to sing what we chose to say, and other band member to go along with our own written songs, all being simultaneously performed that first time thru with great precision… Well words just don’t seem to have the strength needed to convey the coolness of the nights I speak of.
And those three men I spoke of, well fifteen years later, they are still thanking me for letting them stay that night and having those headphones there for each one to participate in our recording “Little Angel”.
Have a good evening, and I hope my grammar here-in wasn’t too bad, and I got my message off your way somehow.
I miss him too

Hi Shane, thank you for posting the stuff about Nicky as I have looked and never found anything till this story, I was his friend from 93 when I met him at a club I managed called The Century Lounge near LAX and then lived with him around 95-96, I used to go to all his shows including his blues jams at Pier 52 and set up and tear down his equip, at that time Nick was like my older cool crazy brother and my best friend, this GS changed with him in 96 and I moved, I would love to hear more stuff about him when you knew him if that’s possible, also are you on Facebook ?? Thanks
