A Little Insight:
This is a first time ever Father and Son performance together opportunity for Shane and Jamie O’Brien. To say the least that Shane is very excited to be doing this show, is no exaggeration at all.
Here’s a little history of their musical lives and how the intersection of these two men on this night on this bandstand together is to say, nothing short of a wonderful miracle for Father and Son to experience together… Note also attending this show is Shane’s Father Brian O’Brien from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Important because it has been two decades since Brian’s son has set foot in his Windsor home.

Date and Time of this coolest of cool, three generation gathering, for a Father and Son jam is actually pretty much a Miracle to have actually been worked out and scheduled. A huge thank you to host Mark Boone and his House Band of the “Thirsty’s Sunday Night Jams” at:

Shane O’Brien : A brief look back at his timeline, starting from 1980 up to 2014:
♥ 1980 Shane performs his final show with his band “Polaris Project at Danny’s Tavern in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The Riverside Drive Venue was to be the very last time Shane plays the Canadian circuit to this very day in 2014.

♥ 1978-1980 Shane’s longest running band with mediocre success was “The Craze“. This band  performed shows everywhere imaginable touring across Canada from Ontario to British Columbia. “The Craze” had performed shows in Vancouver, BC for six months before returning back to play four months of shows in Toronto. The Craze final performances were in London and Windsor, Ontario, all in all it was a three year deal. Shane was the lead singer/guitarist front man.

♥ In 1983 Shane move to Venice, California and began doing gigs as the “Shame, Shame, Shame Blues Band” as the house band for the Tahitian Bar in Inglewood, CA for the next year and a half. Also playing gigs at a club called “Key Largo” during some Thursday nights. The “Heat Brothers” played the weekends at that Torrance venue. Walter Trout was one of two guitarist in the Heat Brothers and that was a great place to see him blossom in his early days before he joined John Mayals Blues Breakers. There are photos of the Shame, Shame, Shame Blues Band playing as the house band for Sunday Jam Nights on the Redondo Beach Pier establishment called The Starboard Attitude in 1983 that are still kicking around, if someone looks hard enough…

♥ 1995 thru 1999 had the Shame, Shame, Shame Blues Band playing performances at local clubs in San Pedro, CA such as The Hi De Ho, George’s Between Rounds and later Spanky’s. The Shame,Shame, Shame Blues Band produced the first band CD, titled “From CYC to CD” © 1999 Shane O’Brien/Jungle Music Productions
That production contains three tracks of which one was a 1995 live recording from the Between Rounds era.

♥ 2000 Shane adopts a new name for his band: Shane O’Brien and O’Briens Edge. In that first year produces a 3 disc CD collection titled “Solid Gold Treasure Chest, disc 1, 2 and 3“. There are other Live recordings of the 1995 shows included in this collection. The majority of the set contains original acoustic versions of Shane’s written music that late showed up up as Band Blues Amplified selections on later produced CD’s.

♥ 2000 recording sessions became a very regular routine in Shane’s schedule, augmenting the band’s selection of performance materials for Shane O’Brien and O’Briens Edge gigs.

♥ 2001 thru 2014 After Shane O’Brien and O’Briens Edge became the name of the band, CD creations was in full force, culminating to a catalog of 26 original CDs and DVDs.

♥ ♥ ♥ Since 2003 Harold’s Place in San Pedro,CA became Shane O’Brien’s musical home and Fan Base for much of this period of which a number of video clips have been uploaded YouTube, Fandalism and ReverbNation band web profiles.

♥ 2005 thru 2010 seven CD’s garnered recognition by a variety of music industry award shows such as: Nominations for Album of the year, Blues Group of the year, Guitarist of the year and Blues and Roots Group of the year within Music Awards Shows by 2005. 2006 1nd 2007 All Access Magazine Music Awards, 2006 and 2007 South Bay Music Awards and the 19th and 20th Los Angeles Musics Awards Shows of 2009 and 2010. Included performances at The Avalon, The knitting Factory, The Whiskey a Go Go, B B Kings Hollywood, The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, The Walt Disney Concert Hall, Paladinos, The Troubadour, The Warner Grand Theater.

These attachments are a small representation of some of the Album covers in the Bands wide catalog of CDs created.

A Special Note From Shane about the final studio recording session

I gotta say for the record here: It was great to have Randy Stodola and Paula O’Rourke of the Alley Cats stop in and take the time to lay down some tracks with me last week. Alley Cats have a long standing history in the Los Angeles Punk scene. I invited these guys to come over to my Jungle Studio and they accepted no problem, right away as a matter of fact. I’m pretty sure they knew to expect nothing but original music, either from me or them, so the environment was set before they walked in that studio door. Professionalism? Not even needed to be explained! They are that and then some. Thank you again you guy’s, you have become solid members of this Jungle Studio musicians’ family and know that our photo has been included onto the crowded Jungle Studio walls.
That same thanks goes to South Bay Drummer Larry Valens who I don’t think knew exactly what to expect and went with the directions handed to him without question. Made things easy for us
