Looking Ahead for good things to come
Looking Ahead for good things to come

Is one of the earliest of the songs written and recorded during the days when the recording studio was actually a 33 foot sloop rig sailboat. The floating studio was then docked in the Los Angeles Harbor town of San Pedro, California. It quickly became known as the rocking-est boat in the harbor. Of the seven albums created in that era of Shane O’Brien and O’Briens Edge [known at that time as The Shame, Shame, Shame Blues Band] is the three CD collection titled “Solid Gold Treasure Chest  parts A, B and C“. Looking Ahead by Shane O’Brien is a track listed in Part A.

Ironworkers in the L A Harbor see hope re work ahead

Since 2008 it is all too obvious how many of us hard working Americans have had to adjust our life styles, or our means of living as we have known it to be ever since we could recall. Many mortgages and gone unpaid, which normally had been on time payments for years without any stupid slips. Homes and apartments lost as these financial times have just sunk us. Solid hardworking and regularly employed Union Ironworkers in may areas have experienced unemployed periods as much as a year or two fiscally especially if we consider in the last four years combined totals.
Therefor this great guitar has to go up for sale. Shane has performed with this guitar live and in studio for both audio and video sessions. It is on display for sale in the showroom at Harbor Music in Redondo Beach, CA. If you were to buy this guitar new today you would add on another $1,000.00 to the asking price.

Ironworkers in the L A Harbor see hope re work ahead
Personally I almost felt as though I was skating through the recession we are still in until the last quarter of 2012. Then of coarse just like everyone else unemployed time out numbered employed times and life changed as it has for a great many of us Union Brothers and Sisters.
I am and will always be a positive and forward thinking individual, I know this. Like it has been in my nature for my entire life. That is why I attended reeducation classes this time out. scheduled tests dates that would leed to future opportunities when the tides finally turn around and times flourish with work opportunities. Many times it will be heavier on the side for those who prepared in these times. Never too late to think about one’s education enhancements, right?
All that being said, and so on and so on… I have put together this video to lift a few spirits for Ironworkers especially in the LA/LB Port Harbor communities such as San Pedro and Long Beach, CA. Two Bridges are right around the corner Brothers and Sisters for us. Plan your moves to meet and greet now. Get on lists if you can, because there will be work for “Bridgemen” and many Ironworkers here will have work to pay bills and put food on the table, that isn’t the $1.25 tacos we’ve been happy to eat from one of the late night street corner roach coaches around town. We are waiting for the Commodore Heim replacement Bridge to kick, note the approaches are works ongoing today. Most notably is the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project. The approaches to that Bridge have been on going works for a while now. The Cells for the two pour in place concrete Towers had work Ground Breaking Ceremonies in July 2013. Once one is up, Ironworkers go to work for a good while and the Bridgeman’s work involved is nothing short of awesome for many of us proud Union Ironworkers.
See all this info and more from this video I created just to share a little window of a hopeful years end for many of us. Maybe even a hope for a full year or two for those Ironworkers who choose to be that valuable to respected contractors involved. You know what I mean. 8 for 8, do it right and safe the first time, blah, blah, blah. Nothing more needs to be said on that, You know…
